21st Annual Taste of Daviess County

Taste of Daviess CountyTwelve restaurants are confirmed for this year's Taste of Daviess County. This year the Y has a sports theme, and everyone is invited to "Join Our Team at the Taste."

The event will be Monday, April 28, from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Community Building in the Eastside Park. Tickets are $15 Single, $25 Couple and $30 Family, and are now for sale at the YMCA front desk or from staff members. Tickets will also be available at the door, but will cost $3 more. Proceeds from Taste go to the Y's Scholarship Youth program.

Youth Swim Team Starts June 3

The Y's Youth Summer Swim Team will run from June 3 through June 25. Registration deadline is June 2 - but sign up on Healthy Kids Day, April 5, and receive a 20% discount!

Save 20% on Any Summer Y Program

On April 5 during Healthy Kids Day, the Y will offer a 20% discount on any Summer program offered in June, July or August. Registration and payment must be completed on April 5, and youth programs such as Summer Camp, Swim Lessons and Swim Team are included. Parents can also take advantage of the 20% savings by signing up for Aerobic, Yoga or other adult classes.

Healthy Kids Day is a nation-wide Y event that encourages kids and parents to "Take on Summer" and commit to keeping the body and mind active over the summer.

In addition to the 20% sign up discount on Healthy Kids Day, the Y will offer free activities and events for kids and families from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sixth Annual Indoor Tri/Inaugral Duathlon Results

Congratulations to all entrants in the Y's Sixth Annual Indoor Triathlon, and Inaugural Duathlon, March 8, 2014.

Triathletes swam, biked and ran indoors for 15 minutes each leg, while Duathletes biked and ran 15 minutes per leg

Pool Hours to Change

Due to the extended school day for the next three weeks, the Y's morning session pool hours will be 5:45 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. This will begin Monday, February 24, and continue for three weeks. All other pool hours will remain the same.

The Y Awarded $500 Grant

The Daviess Count Family Y was recentally awarded $500 by the REMC Community Fund. This money will be used to purchase manikens and supplies for the Red Cross CPR classes which are held every third Saturday at the YMCA. To register for a class, call the Y or stop by the front desk.

Fees...$26 for YMCA members and $48 for non members (4 week month)
